no one would know if the tale was not told hope was in scope, but the trail's gone cold pockets were lined, they were stacking gold now we're dying to find our way back in the fold cause we can't abide the man inside but we can't decide what plan to guide us to the promised land when trust was intact, they were scared of our rise now nothing's a fact, and we're sharing the lies you see the love that we lack when a parent cries and though we just want to act, we're paralyzed cause we've been tossed around, lost and found but the cost is down, the boss' crown CHORUS: is weighing heavy on his head he ain't man enough to take its weight though he made everyone forget that it was love that made us great and it will again people in need need people indeed and grief will just lead to upheaval and greed you can see the deceit in your media feed they blame "the evil elite" saying "don't believe what you read" you see the blame misplaced, for shame and waste but here's the saving grace to change the pace: truth is the proof that just can't be denied it's moving the youth we abandoned outside they say that love is a dove that just can't take flight but now we suffered enough, we must stand and fight if we were truly great, we're newly made we're so consumed with hate, but soon this weight CHORUS: will be too heavy on our head we must be tough to take its weight though he made everyone forget that it was love that made us great but it will again

you find him hiding inside his tower throwing taunts like he’s tough he’s just a prideful coward who only wants to be loved so he plays to his base of racists cause he’s their idiot chief all his claims are baseless oh what crazy shit they believe but tough he’s not, they should see they love to cop the goods he’s out to sell too dumb to spot the pussy his scumbag father would be proud as hell but don’t be cowed as well CHORUS: you gotta call ‘em like you see ‘em or you can fall into submission when facts are gone call ‘em like you see ‘em you gotta call a man a bitch if he acts like one when they come, they’re so dumb and angry he got them looking for war they’re fucking scum and frankly their man’s a crook and whore he’s only fit to lead a fake empire on those reality shows he’s a snake and a liar so on the ballot he goes wilding, dumb and graceless riling up his base, his stock and trade the violent thugs embrace this defiling up the place with all this hate the racists call it great CHORUS: so you gotta call ‘em like you see ‘em or you can fall into submission when facts are done call ‘em like you see ‘em you gotta call a man a bitch if he acts like one call ‘em like you see ‘em i know that neither side is great but they’re not the same call ‘em like you see ‘em can’t leave it all to fate, it's not a game ain't nothing great about the hate between us the grief is leaving me numb he likes to say he's a stable genius but he's unbelievably dumb and those who trust him are just as stupid look what the view to be true but unlike him, they got the guts to do shit they're gonna do it to you

Fake News 03:29
this morning i saw the news and reacted i missed warnings ignored the clues just attacked it i’ll research it online i can’t just let them ignore the proof besmirching a fine, fine man and i bet they’ll distort the truth but i can see what they’re trying to do they can’t lie to me but they’ll keep lying to you and you’ll buy it and so the snake gets the sheep but i’ll decry it cause i’m awake, while you sleep but they won’t stop the pandering, toeing the line cause they know that they got you hooked the propaganda been blowing your mind you’re so brainwashed and shook that you can’t see you want the pie in the sky the truth is free but you keep buying the lie you can’t see so i’m saying it twice the truth is free but we’re all paying the price CHORUS: it’s fake news! you’re free to discuss i know you want to believe we take cues from people we trust some only want to deceive it’s fake news! or whether it’s not there ain’t no way to be sure make use of whatever you got it’s preparations for war! so what’s the answer? where do we start? some have tried it’s like a cancer that tears us apart from inside studies show now my guy’s in the lead you can’t believe the media everybody knows about the lies and the greed but your man’s even greedier but you can’t see…

you tried to cancel us with violence playing tough, waging war til things get dangerous you tied our hands and trusted tyrants fair enough, you change the law, but don’t think you’re changing us cause we the most powerful gang in town and we’ll see our foes cower when we break ‘em down the elite in those towers won’t make a sound they afraid of us CHORUS: we know the laws, we’ve been too kind so don’t you cross the thin blue line they say that crime has been decreasing but it seems it’s not so true and soon you’re stuck with it but you say it may be time to end policing in your dreams! you got no clue just who you’re fucking with CHORUS: we know the laws, we’ve been too kind now don’t you cross the thin blue line our little show of force will continue fine so don’t you cross the thin blue line don't you plan to cross that thin blue line you couldn't stand the force of the thin blue line in your masks, lined up against thin blue line but we're the last line of defense we're the thin blue line we'll keep holding down the thin blue line you know we control this town we're the thin blue line now we deserve some respect we're the thin blue line we only serve and protect the thin blue line if you ain't one of us then you ain't defunding us now don't be crowding the zone cause we look out for our own we're the thin blue line

for ninety days, had to hide inside his place mikey stays isolated alone time and space been erased, mind's a haze eyes are glazed, and his fate is unknown though i suppose that he misses his bros ain't just the fun wants his credit froze, and his business is closed and now the money's gone he's only trying to work being maligned like some kind of jerk see people dying at work but he got duties he ain't trying to sherk CHORUS: so he says 'i just can't take anymore' but he'd stress 'we just can't make it a war' now poor christina looking for support ain't seen her daughter trina in a score and a half the ward is leaner for enforcing quarantine a court subpoena couldn't force her to laugh ain't nothing funny, though she's making some money they put her life in danger and trina's daddy, sonny, ain't so mad at the money but now his wife's a stranger there ain't no break for a nurse she's so stressed and protests are making it worse she feels forsaken and cursed almost prefers they'd just taken her purse CHORUS: so she says 'i just can't take anymore' but she'd stress 'we just can't make it a war' now we say 'we just can't take anymore but oh how we'll pay if we just go and make it a war'

Let It Rule 05:35
When it's not too clear And there's no way of knowing I ain't one for playing the game But what we got right here I think we know where it's going and there ain't no need to give it a name me and you it's not the time to be timid there's just one thing on my mind what we could do well, the sky is the limit now we're dancing with the divine minds get blown we'll find our zone in the pink and while it's going fine there's no need to think CHORUS: just let it rule let it rule let it rule let it rule It's getting late And we know this progression i'll be straight - ain't trying to swing If this is fate It ain't our place to question i won't fight, ain't denying a thing just know it's where we'll go not where we have been so don't be scared just throw your cares to the wind CHORUS and let it rule let it rule let it rule let it rule if the day should ever come when we're right back in this spot well, that would be so fucking cool but if it never comes and tonight is all we got then it might be our only shot so let it rule no going back we know in fact we insist so relax and know that that's what it is and let it rule

Sides 07:26
CHORUS: there's always two sides in every fight but the sides ain't always worth the same if one side is never right the other side don't deserve no blame now you can make a false equivalence if it helps to justify your hate keep taking all you're given since the lie is great once upon a time, we aimed for greatness we stood for justice, truth, and light wouldn't cower or flee we moved on to find those words were weightless but some couldn't trust, they'd choose to fight with the powers that be at the time no accounting for truth but they had to climb over mountains of proof so they invented their own science they reinvented history and they claimed it was great and they'd defend it with prayer and violence too deep in vengefulness to see ain't no shame in their hate only pride cause they thought they were right but when they lied other brought it to light still they denied and they fought out of spite you best pick a side or get caught in the fight certain people had enough they just couldn't take no more they turned to evil out of love and said "no justice, then make it war" now,if it's war you want, it's war you get but when the war is on, you can't mourn your dead and now it ain't just for warriors no, death will come for countries too and justice glorious? can't hold your breath when someone punches you now you can hit back and fight the abuse or you can sit, that's your right to choose but once it's lit, you can't unlight the fuse and you lose one side really tried for peace the other side kept on waging war one lied then denied it cheats one side knew its rage was pure one side was really not to blame which the other side tried to obscure cause the sides were really not the same at their core in the end, it didn't matter though who was wrong, and who was right you see a friend getting at a foe you go along, can't refuse to fight so you stand up and brace for war hope the life you take is worth the life you give put your hands up and praise the lord if you live CHORUS: there's always two sides in every fight but the sides ain't always worth the same if one side is never right the other side don't deserve no blame now you can make a false equivalence if it helps to justify your hate keep taking all you're given since the lie is great once upon a time we aimed for greatness but we've seen that promise yet to be fulfilled an abandoned decree guns are drawn with primal blames and hatreds so we leave that promise dead 'til we rebuild 'til the land of the free is remade and we fuse the divide we'll see all the hate we've been confusing for pride cause we won't be great without choosing a side no, we won't be great without choosing a side

about

All music written, recorded, mixed, and "mastered" by Dan Kramer for American Glorious Productions. Cover photo by Dan Kramer. Art design by Dan Kramer.

Disclaimer: I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to mastering. So if you hear this album, and feel like you could do a better job mastering it, please let me know! They say you shouldn't mix your own record, so it's probably doubly true that you shouldn't master your own record (especially if you mixed it!) But hey, pandemic, amirite...

Anyway. Special thanks to Steve, for loaning me your Les; Crow, for letting me use your amp; Ernie and Jake, for adding your angelic vocals; Tim, for playing great drums as always; COVID-19, for killing any temptation to socialize instead of working on my album; and of course, Lisse, for putting up with this nonsense for the last six months.
